Pregnancy, TSH and PCOS

Hi all,

I haven’t posted here in some time but I am reaching out in the hope of finding someone with either advice or lived experience.

I had a TT (total thyroidectomy) aged 25 in 2017 I am now trying to start a family and unfortunately not finding this easy. I had a miscarriage in October 2024 and haven’t been able to fall pregnant since. I have been diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) based on blood results alone as scans show no cysts.

My Levothyroxine dose has been changed several times since the miscarriage and my TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) never seems to be right. My cycles are all over the place but can never tell whether this is because of the PCOS or the levo..

Most fertility specialists I have seen don’t seem to have a great understanding of my existing condition and pre-natal supplements seem to be a minefield- also worried about taking anything that could affect levo uptake!

I guess I am looking for some reassurance or someone who has had successful pregnancies or someone who has miscarried then managed to conceive again as I am feeling really deflated after so long of trying.

  • Hi

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I'm sorry to read about your miscarriage and trouble conceiving.

I'm not a member of this group but  noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

    Wishing you all the best.
