Hello all,
First time posting so by way of background:
I had my last review in July this year with my ENT Specialist and she said I would need further Thyrogen injections, bloods and scans to determine my 'status' in September.
My worry is that I've been forgotten by the hospital as I've had zero contact since July. I have had no calls, letters or emails to book any appointments. I'm with Northwick Park Hospital and have no contact details to get in touch with anyone.
I'm not sure what to do other than wait. I recently saw my GP for another matter and when I raised my concerns I was basically told 'best of luck with that' as trying to find any contact details for anyone at the hospital is nigh on impossible.
Feel very let down and forgotten.
Thanks for reading.
Kay
Could you try the main hospital number and ask for the appointments team to ask if you are on a list awaiting for an appointment?
Is there a number for the ENT doctors secretary on your letters- they are usually very helpful? If you've not got all your letters they may be on your NHS app?
Do you have a specialist nurse/information pack from them with contact details ?
If none of the above you could call PALS and they are usually very helpful.
Hopefully its just a short backlog of appointments and I hope you have an appointment soon
Hi 45RH,
Thanks for the reply. There are no contact details on the letters (probably done intentionally) and I tried PALS, left voicemails and nobody answers or returns my call.
The hospital has one number for appointments but they will only take calls to cancel or change appointments, not create or chase appointments (very unhelpful individuals on the phone to the point of rudeness).
Short of going to the hospital asking in person, I'm going to have to wait. However I do remember receiving a Macmillan Information pack so I will dig that out to see if I was given a contact number in there. Thank you!
Hi,
Update: contacted the hospital using the number above (Thank you Aluch!) and it seems i was forgotten about. Apparently at the last appointment, the physician's assistant was to email the appointments team with recall details but as this was not done the appointments team did not contact me.
The Macmillan Nurse I spoke to was very apologetic and told me point blank that had I not called then I would definitely not been given any further appointments and she was going to chase this up and give a big telling off to whoever was to blame and raise as a concern with the department.
I have now been booked in for various appointments in December.
