Good afternoon,

it’s been a little while since I was last here.

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2016- a year after the birth of my daughter.

I have been terrified to have another child since.

I am now 39 and know that if I do have another child it has to be now as I am getting older.

please can anyone advise, am I more at risk of developing another cancer of any kind during pregnancy?
I am very worried about hormone related cancers- thyroid reoccurrence or breast/ ovarian

I’m scared of developing another cancer and not being around for the child….

please can anyone offer any information?

Kindly

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list again.

You might also want to post this question in the Ask a Nurse section of the online community if no one in this group is able to share their experience of developing another cancer whilst pregnant. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
