High TG level

Hi I am new to the forum.  I support my relative who had a total thyroidectomy a few years ago followed by RAI. An ultrasound picked up a lump in the thyroid bed earlier this year and following a further scan recently they were then referred to ENT consultant.  The consultant did another scan and after reviewing result and inflamed lymph nodes said he would see them in another 6 months to monitor it. A blood test has just been done which shows TG level of 50 and  my relative is waiting to hear back from the consultant re TG test result.  Just wondering if anyone has experience of this and can shed some light/give some guidance regarding this.

Thank you for any help.

  • Hello Purpleygirl

I hope that you do not mind me replying to you as I had a different type of cancer to your relative. I hope by doing so it will bump your post back to the top and someone will see it.

I am sorry to hear that your relative had a lump picked up by the ultrasound on the thyroid bed but it is reassuring that it is being monitored. I hope that your relative does not have to wait too long to hear back from the consultant to discuss the results of the TG blood test.

In the meantime if there is anything that we can do to support either of you, please do ask.

  • Thank you Jane for your very kind reply. I really appreciate it.

  • Hello - what was the Tg level at previous blood tests, please?

    Best wishes

  • I haven’t been able to get further details from them. Thankfully they have just heard from the consultant and they have a consultation with the consultant next week.  Thank you Barbara.
