Good morning! Sorry to ask again but I’m looking to find out if I can eat everything I would normally eat after total thyroidectomy and now on Levothyroxine. Is nothing banned after eating my preferred 1 hour after taking med in morning? I love fresh orange juice/ almond milk/ nuts/seeds and usually eat quite healthily. Thanks so much for any information. Xx
Yes, if you are waiting an hour, you can eat as normal. Just avoid any supplements that might interact (e.g. iron, calcium) and ask your GP to check any other medication you're on is OK. Iron and calcium are usually blocked for about 4 hours.
Other members will be able to tell you about specific medications, I expect.
Food is fine.
You also don't have to change the way you eat - it wasn't your diet that got you the cancer. My oncologist said not to chase any crazy diets of the type that are promoted for some of the cancers.
Best wishes
Barbara

Forgive me for not knowing all the dates and details of your surgery.
How long is it since you had your operation?
Have you had stitches (or staples) removed?
Are you still wearing a dressing on the wound?
If the stitches are out, I think you're fine.
If they are still in and you've got a dressing on, maybe get a friend to wash your hair over the sink.
It's 11 and a bit years since I had my surgery and I really don't remember. If you want to be absolutely sure - rather than relying on my guesswork - give the Mac helpline a call (or your local GP surgery) and just ask for advice.
Sorry to not be more useful.
Best wishes

It looks like you're probably OK to shower 5 days after the glue has been put in.

Hello
I also take lansoprazole for stomach acid so advice form my oncologist is to take levothyroxine at the same time each day, wait 60 minutes, take my second med which needs to be taken before food on an empty stomach 45 minutes before food then eat normally. She advised that I did not need to avoid any particular foods..Good luck.
Hi Langdaleman! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I feel more settled now in taking my Levothyroxine each day at the same time then waiting an hour before eating or drinking. I was worried that some things I normally have would interfere with the absorption. Even my orange juice at breakfast! Now realise from the lovely people on here that I can have my usual after the hour in question! Getting there slowly and hope your are well xx
