Hey all,

So I am 2.5 years post total thyroidectomy and radioiodine therapy. I’ve had my blood test results back recently showing my TSH at 8.4 and thyroglobulin at 0.2 my Levothyroxine was increased because of the higher 8.4 from alternating 125mg/150mg each day to just being on 150mg a day. My main worry is the thyroglobulin as it was 0.12 two years ago and is now 0.2 any ideas on whether I should be expecting more radioiodine therapy? I’ve got my consultant in a couple of weeks but similar to many- I hate the wait! Thanks

  • Hi

I'm sorry that I can't help with your question but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered.

While you're waiting to see if you get any replies, you could put 'increasing thyroglobulin' into the search bar in this group and it will bring up previous posts which mention this.

If you then click on the 'Most relevant' tab and change it to 'most recent' you'll then be able to read the newer posts and reply to any where you think the poster may be able to help you further.

  • Hello, that's a really tiny difference and right at the bottom end of what most of the equipment can measure. My latest test just reports at <0.1 so anything down around that level is not going to be very significant.

Also, even when the GP sends the blood to the same test centre each time (and they don't always do that), different equipment can give slightly different results on the same sample. For example, my doc accidentally put me in for my thyroid function test twice over on the same sample. One came back with a FT4 of 22.9 and the other with 23.4.

Follow up RAI would not normally be considered at such a low Tg result.

    Best wishes
