Pregnant & just been diagnosed with thyroid cancer

Congratulations on your pregnancy! However, I can understand the dilemma that you feel you're in and why you'd want to hear from others who have been in a similar situation.

I can't help you with this but by replying to you it will 'bump' your post back to the top of the first page where it'll hopefully be seen by someone who can. While you're waiting for replies if you type 'pregnant' into the search bar in this group it will bring up a number of recent posts from people who have been diagnosed while pregnant. You could have a look through those and respond to any where you feel that they may be able to help you further.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. I've been here for 9 years and it's not so rare for people to find out they have thyroid cancer when they're pregnant. Not all gynaecologists only look down the business end (so to speak).  Most thyroid cancers are very slow-growing and the fact that they are talking about only taking half, usually means that they suspect a follicular variant thyroid cancer - a type which is impossible to confirm without surgery.

We have had members who've done what's being suggested for you - waiting for the baby to develop then having surgery over half-way through. We have sadly also had people who've chosen to terminate their pregnancy in order to get the cancer sorted first. It's a very individual choice and none of us can 'tell' you what you should do. It really has to be your decision in consultation with your doctors.  Please don't let anybody pressure you into the choices you have to make.

Those who've had their babies have not had any issues with the baby's health - or at least not ones that they've come and reported back on.
