Hi, wondering if someone can answer this? My TSH is 0.04, I have noticed the last few weeks that when exercising my heart rate goes stupidly high (187 per minute !!) has anyone else experienced this, and has anyone been given advice regarding exercising ?
Thanks x
Hey there sus,
If your TSH is suppressed down to 0.04, is that where your consultant wants it as that's quite low, then your T4 is probably mid to high twenties? Do you know the T4 number?
High T4 will affect your heart both with a higher blood pressure and a higher heart rate. So that's why they try not to let T4 get too high, which means you don't want TSH too low as they're like on opposite sides of a seesaw. As one goes up, then the other goes down and vice versa.
Do you take your own blood pressure? If not, might be worth making an appointment with your GP to get that double checked. How's your resting heart rate? Stable somewhere between 80 and 100? Might be worth double checking with your consultant where they want your TSH too. It's more normal that they want it around 0.1.
As for exercising, it's normal for your heart rate to increase during exercise, but from a resting rate of under 100 to get up to 187 is a bit extreme in my uneducated opinion. So might be worth checking with the GP when you get your blood pressure checked. They may want to either get advice or send you to see a cardiologist. I need to take some anti inflammatories to stop getting headaches while exercising because of my HR and blood pressure.
Fingers crossed the GP can sort something out or reassure you.

I have no medical training, everything I post is an opinion or educated guess. It is not medical advice.
Hi lass
thank you for taking the time to reply
my T4 is 22.3, I have just had my thyroxine reduced to 100 mcg from 112.5mcg. My resting heart rate is between 60-70! I have always exercised so it’s not like my body is not used to working hard. It is weird that my heart rate goes so high! My last B/P was 120/80.
i am going to keep a close eye on things over the next couple of weeks and keep a record of how I feel etc and then make an appointment with my GP.
xx
