Hi,
I was diagnosed with follicular carc. back in March, I've had two hemi-thyroidectomies, I was told at the start of my treatment that after the last op I would go for Radioiodine treatment - but in my follow up appointment, was given two options - one to have the Radioiodine, and the 2nd not to as it was considered a sledgehammer to a nut approach... can i have peoples advice please?
Hey there Hoh,
Lots of people are given that choice these days. It probably means that your cancerous lump was between 2 and 4cm in size? The guidelines have changed over the last few years after a couple of studies, so they no longer automatically give everyone RAI.
I think my first question would be, where's your thyroglobulin at just now? Do you know? Also, do you know why I'd be interested in the thyroglobulin? Sorry, just trying to work out how much you know about thyroid cancer, the monitoring, and how it all fits together.
Lass
Xx
