Hi

Ive been on thyroxine for over two years now following a thyroidectomy. All my bloods are normal and stable for quite a while now. I felt recently like the last few months my breasts have been feeling much fuller and larger. I am pretty flat chested so i noticed this easily. I went for a measurement and ive gone up two cup sizes. Haven't put on any other weight. Ive read that thyroxine can impact this due to hormones etc. Anyone else experienced this. I did get worried as someone told me i should have this checked out as changes in breast can be a sign of breast cancer. I will mention it to my GP but Would like to know if anyone experienced this.

Thanks

  • Heya Robin,

Well, that's quite a nice side effect if that's what it is!

My breasts have increased in size, but so has my waistline and everything else. Boobs will gain weight if the rest of you gains weight, so that's my issue.

I'd definitely mention it to the GP, as it could be something untoward. But as you say, you are fiddling with hormones so it could be due to that - though I've not heard of anyone else finding this.

The other thing to ask would be, could you be pregnant? That obviously makes your breasts increase in size as they start to prepare to feed a baby.

Hope you find out what's going on, and do let us know, as I'm intrigued now!

Thank you Lass for your reply.

I am definitely not pregnant. Yes i guess not the worst side effect but I just dont feel like me as im.so used to being smaller and it has felt quite rapid. Ive been doing too much googling I think about why this could be. I guess our bodies can just change too it might not akways be thyroid or thyroxine related. I will discuss with GP and report back.

I very much appreciate your advice so good to have this forum.

    Hi Lass

    Thanks for replying to me.

Well im definitely not pregnant. I guess not everything is related to thyroxine either our bodies can change but it just feels to me like it has to be. Not the worst side effect i know. Just dont feel like my usual self ha ha.

Will definitely speak to my GP and ill post back on here.

Your advice is much appreciated this forum is great for when you need to ask but everyone else thinks its not a big deal.

    Thanks
