Hi guys, haven't been on here for a while ,been a hard few weeks ,had my RAI etc, followed by the scans ,waiting for results now , apparently I will have another scan in about 3months ,can I ask why?,I see my oncologist on July 3rd about results of Rai etc ,my body is still relying on painkillers for the joint and muscle pain ,bloods showed inflammation but no arthritis,I'm improving slowly apparently, dosent feel like it ,sharp pains in my fingers and arms now come and go quickly but painful, just starting in my legs to sometimes, been advised to take thyroxin at night do I can take ibruofen as soon as I wake up ,feeling very down at the minute, must be e reason why I'm swollen and sore all over ,any ideas?,anyone?
Hey Bubbles,
3 months is a bit early from what I know tbh, it's usually a 9 - 12 month scan they do. But it's just a check to make sure everything is gone, done and dusted, then they sometimes let you lower your dose of thyroxine if they're happy with how everything looks. However as I say, that's for the 9 - 12 month scan. It might be different for a 3 month scan.
As for the swelling and pain etc, no idea I'm afraid. It's nothing I've heard of before in relation to thyroids, so it sounds like a completely different and separate problem you've got. Hopefully the improvements continue though and you soon begin to feel them!

Hi lass, hope you are doing ok!?,thank you for replying,ok I'll wait and see lol ,we do alot of that don't we :)...I'll also stress to my GP that as much as I have a high pain threshold this is ridiculous, there has got to be a reason for it so hopefully she will stop dismissing it as nothing and try and get it sorted !xx
Heya,
Even if she referred you to a pain clinic it would be something.
But yes, keep asking until you get answers and a diagnosis. Things don't go wrong for no reason.

Hi lass,I wish someone would do something,I feel like I'm dismissed,or they thing I'm making it up ,but I can't sit or stand for long ,my hands sonedays are awful ,walking is a task ,after a while , ibruofen and paracetamol help but an answer would be nice as to why ,sorry I'm struggling at the min xx
Nothing at all to be sorry about. I know what you're going through and how you are feeling, though through different circumstances.
On Tuesday, you phone your GP and make a double appointment. Then whenever that is, you go along with a proper list made up of all the issues and everything you are feeling. Maybe even take two, that way you can give one to the Dr and have one yourself so you can go through everything.
Especially, tell them how it is making you feel mentally and that you need answers. That not knowing what's wrong, not having a plan to fix it, and not knowing how long it's going to go on for is affecting you mentally.
Just lay it all out on the table in an organised fashion, and finish up with asking what they are going to do to investigate what's going on and why, and see what they say. Don't be British about it and make light of it or sugar coat it. Just lay it out bare.
Sadly, it's sometimes when we feel at our weakest that we have to be at our strongest to advocate for ourselves and be taken seriously to get the answers we need.

Thank you lass, that's a good idea as when I get in there I'm trying to be strong and I don't push her ,I know she tries to help when she can ,but everything seems to get blamed on recent events ,this however I'm sure isnt in my mind ,it's horrible to feel this way everyday xx
Hi lass,I have seen my GP today ,I was firm as she said bloods are good ,getting better slowly ,can't take anymore as Rai was done recently so will affect them,so said basically that it's time until u feel better.upped my fluoxetine dose to two a day as I'm very down ,really !!,yes I am ,said it would also help with the pain .
So I came home and cried ,again ,then I rang my cancer nurse at the hospital,by some miracle she answered the phone and I blurted out to her exactly what had been said and how I feel ,etc and apologized for going on ,bless her ,she spoke to my consultant, and they have reduced my levo from 200,to 175 a day when prescription is ready ,plus ringing my GP to tell her I need referring to the rheumatologist, finally at last someone is listening,as my understanding is not all arthritis can show up in bloods ,begins with S ,can't spell it ,I do hoping I'm on the right track and I can get some help now ,thank you for helping me the other day ,do you think this sounds like the right way to go ?xxx
Heya,
I think getting anyone to listen and any investigations done is a good thing. It certainly can't hurt can it!
I hope things are improving for you and you've not got long to wait to be seen!
