Three weeks ago I had a partial thyroid removal operation which I was told had gone well. Yesterday I was told cancer was present in the removed thyroid and i will need to have the other side removed as well as Iodine treatment three months later. I am finding it hard to understand why it was not all removed during the first procedure.
I have been through the same thing - half was removed in July and the second half in September.
If the initial lump in my thyroid had not been cancer I would rather have kept the good half
I agree I was doing okay with the one half. I had hoped partial removal would be enough. Not looking forward to going through it again but... I have got to have Radiation Iodine treatment a few months after the thyroid has been removed completely.
Will be going on Levothyroxine.
