Hi guys/girls just found this page and found some of the post useful but don’t think I noticed and helpful hints and tips pre/post thyroid cancer. I was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 after probably 20 or some biopsy and similar amounts of ultrasound. I had a branchial cyst around 6cm in size and this lead to an inspection of neck area which flagged up Thyroid Cancer. I have listed below all things to prepare for post op

voice changes - my voice is more hoarse than previously and I am unable to raise my voice or sing due to damage to vocal cords caused by surgery.

nerve damage - left side of my face/neck still haven’t fully returned since surgery nerves damaged which I was told is perfectly normal and should return but my didn’t

diet changes - make sure you make changes as your weight will fluctuate drastically I was definitely no healthy eater or drinker but now I have found I feel a lot less lethargic if I eat healthy and drink 3 litres of water a day

mouth and gums - go to dentist before any treatment as radio iodine and other treatment teally affect your mouth and cause a number of different issues including dry mouth, tooth decay and gum diseases

scars - use recommend treatments on scars to heal nicely

levothyroxine - I feel like a lot of people hit the nail on the head with this there are so many different things happen to you when you start taking this main ones I would say as regular tired spells during the day and some stomach issues

hope this helps someone who is about to start on the this journey or others that have been through it recently
