Suspicious lymph nodes on scan check up

Hello all,

I was diagnoses with Solid Variant PTC in Jan 24 and had a thyroidectomy and RAI treatment.  I had a neck ultrasound done this week and the Dr doing the scan noticed 2 suspicious lymph nodes.  She said they could be reactive nodes but I might get called in for an earlier appoinment with Oncology.

Has anyone had suspicious lymph nodes on a scan at one of their follow up appoinments?

Do they let you know quickly if the nodes are safe or is it that if you dont hear from oncology then you take it they are safe?

I hate waiting for results so would be good to know if I will get any results or if no news is good news. xx

  • Hi Leaksmith, I'm sorry to hear you're stuck in the awful waiting for results period again. I was hoping someone with more experience of your particular situation would pop on and reply but if it's any help, when I've not heard anything back from scans or blood tests within a reasonable timeframe, I've contacted my CNS and she's always been brilliant in finding out where/what's going on. In my experience with the NHS, I wouldn't assume that not hearing anything is an indication of results. (I'm chasing up a "lost" referral at the moment!!) I'd contact your CNS or consultant's secretary and ask if they can chase it down. I hope you get your results soon and wish you the best. X

  • K9crazy,  Thank you.  You are invaluable on this forum as you always respond to people and have lots of knowledge.  I will give it a little while longer and contact the hospital if I don't hear anything.   I will also hope they are just angry LN due to a cold xx
