Hi,
I wondered if anyone else has experienced delays in RAI treatment?
I have Oncocytic & Papillary Thyroid cancer, I had my surgeries quickly the completion surgery In August and was told 4-6 weeks after for RAI, it was then delayed due to staffing issues and I have had it booked in for February so 5 months. However this has now had to be delayed as the cancer has spread to my lymph nodes whilst awaiting RAI. I now have to have a neck dissection to have them removed on one side and then again wait for RAI.
I have been positive throughout the process up to now, this has really set me back. Has anyone else been through this?
Thanks
Hi,
I had my appointment after my thyroidectomy yesterday and they had already removed lymph nodes down to my chest due to the spread. They told me it was up to a 12 week wait for radioactive iodine at the Christie hospital in Manchester.
Hi Butterfly1998 thank you for your response. I hope you’re healing well. I’m have my third surgery this week and they have said March for RAI at Leeds. Fingers crossed we’re both in soon!
