Hi

I joined before I was diagnosed due to the worry etc. I have been nearly 2 years since incidental find and had 5 indeterminate biopsies.

I had a Hemithyroidectomy on 15th April and was told it was benign. Huge relief.

I was called and asked to attend today with no notice. I was told a multi disciplinary team had reviewed the pathology and discovered I did have thyroid cancer.

No idea what type. I don't need further treatment but will be scanned at 6 months to check nothing new. They are"confident" it was contained and I shouldn'tworry.

I'm feeling really confused and upset but not sure why as nothing really changes. No idea why posting but I dont know where to take these feelings i cant name. I already told everyone I don't have cancer.

I also feel concerned that they got it wrong.

Sorry for the ramble

  • Hi

Sorry to hear this. It must be so confusing to find out like that after you'd already been told it wasn't cancer.

You have every right to ask what type and staging and ask them to allocate you a Cancer Nurse Specialist to have a chat with.

  • Hi, that sounds like such an awful experience you’ve had! Weirdly I had my full thyroidectomy on the same day as you! You should ask them to send you the histology report as they sent it to me. I had my surgery at St Richard’s in Chichester and they were really amazing. Make sure you keep ringing and ask for more information as you should definitely be given a clinical nurse specialist as they are a great person to go to for help! Have you got the nhs app or patient knows best? Does it say anything on there? As all my reports etc are in there! If you want to have a private chat I’d be happy to share my experience and offer any advice!

  • Hi

I was also at St Richards on 15th at Pagham suite.....

My experience was not so amazing sadly even on the same day.

My histology is not on my NHS or patient knows best.

I was given a nurse today but no idea what I want to know yet and also bee made to feel like although it was cancer its fine.

I'd be happy to chat but no idea how to use the site JoyJoyJoy

    Thank you for responding

  • Thank you

I think I'm just in shock at the moment so no idea what to ask.

  • How strange is that! I think I may have even been sat opposite you in the recovery room! I’ll private message you on here

  • I have sent you a friend request so once you accept I should be able to message you
