I would book in with GP rather than UTC. And then see how it goes. Only small percentage of lumps is actual cancer so do not panic just yet.
If it's a lumpy lymph node, then that would make sense - that might be swollen due to the infection elsewhere.
If it's in a thyroid position - central, base of the neck - then ask for that to be checked.
