Hello. I am two weeks after full thyroid removal and left side neck dissection. The wound is healing nicely. I have got it checked few times in hospital since leaving. I have my check up with surgeon in more than 2 weeks but I need some advice ASAP. This week it feels that my wound is shrinking and it is limiting my neck movement due to it. I didn't have any advice from hospital about that matter and what to do when that happen. Does any of you know if I can put some ointments on it already and maybe do something else to start to stretch it a bit? Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hiya! I haven't yet had my op, but Langdaleman mentioned neck exercises due to stiffness in this thread here. They may be able to provide some advice
My memory isn't perfect, but I think I was using BioOil from about 2 weeks after surgery. It worked great for me. By contrast, my sister used it and it brought her out in a rash.
I recommend to ask around amongst friends and family and see if anybody has any. Friends with small kids who may have used it to prevent stretch marks might well have some in the back of the bathroom cupboard so you can try before you buy.
If you think of buying some, do try to find the tiniest size bottle possible - that stuff goes a really long way. I have loads of it left over a decade later.
Best wishes
Barbara
