Surgery completed. Total thyroidectomy and some lymph glands removed plus long standing large nodule also gone. Glad it's over. MedicalTeam and hospital staff were great!Painkillers good but make me sleepy. Check up in 2 weeks then in 8 weeks meeting with Thyroid MDT. Also said I would almost certainly need RAI treatment. Now lots of rest and recuperation and get my head around what has happened!
Hi Dexx, Just dropped by and noticed you've not yet had an answer from the members here as yet. I've a different type of cancer but I do know the relief when surgery is all over and you're on the rest and recuperation home run with a check-up due in 2 weeks.
I wish you well with your recovery and future treatments. I've read on previous posts here about RAI treatment so scroll back on previous posts for more info or post RAI treatment in the search bar at the top of this page where you should get some answers
Hugs, B xx

Hi! Thanks so much for your reply. So thoughtful of you to post! I am so glad it is over and especially so as I got Covid a few days ago! Lots of rest and recuperation! Trying to remain positive although I think I had a self pity party at the weekend. I really hope you are on the way to full recovery and again thanks for taking time out to reply. Xx
Best wishes
Barbara

Hi Dexx,
I had a tt and neck dissection too, it is a huge relief when its over and you will bounce back quicker than you think. I think its quite normal to have good and bad days but taking notice of the good things in each day no matter how small help. Look after yourself x
Hi JJ72! Thank you for your kind words and taking the time to reply. I am so glad surgery is over. Now to get over Covid! A lot has happened this last week for sure! I still think I can’t believe what has happened. I will go for my follow up in 2 weeks and in 8 weeks a meeting with the MDT to see what next steps are although RAI is almost certain. Take care of yourself! Xx
Hi Lydia245! That was so good to hear your positivity. I am so glad you are enjoying life! I think feeling sorry for myself was due to taking Covid the week I had surgery. Feeling bit better now. Thyroid MDT meeting on the 15th and follow up in 8 weeks time to discuss RAI I assume? Just focusing on getting well. Xxx
Hi Lucia! I had my TT and left neck dissection 2 weeks ago tomorrow! Can’t believe it is over. I was in hospital for one night and home the next day. Staff and consultant were great and I’m healing nicely. Follow up in 7 weeks. I too am very organised and used to being in control but I am learning to take it easy for a while and let others pamper me. Hope it all goes well with you. Take care xx
