Hello, I had my radioactive iodine treatment 1st of October, stayed in hospital three nights, isolate before treatment for too weeks and plus my iodine diet, isolate after treatment for 6 days. I was so desperate to go and have my freedom, and I am as I just been climbing up a mountain and I have reached to the top , I had my first long walk today and I felt so exhausted, but after while big rest I felt brilliant. My blood test results are good I am not diabetic And I was definitely shore of that I’ll be fine, because I always have been balancing how much fruit I eat, chocolate, cake, and even carrots can contain sugar, I always been drinking water and keep healthy. then just I got my results from my radioactive treatment with results ( NO MORE CANCER CELLS IN MY BODY) proud of that . Sometimes I feel tired one minute ,next minute I am getting dizzy little bit , it is all still to soon to recover from et all , and in and out of hospitals.
Well my surgery was 26of August, and after too weeks I visit the Doctor at the hospital and they told me they going to make appointment for the Iodine treatment and that was 1st of October . You have to probably contact your nurse or the hospital Doctor and chase et up . I think after a week i when back to the hospital after the surgery and the Doctors spoke to me and hi made appointment for the treatment.
Hi Keith.
Hope you are doing well. So that you have another comparison, my surgery for full TT was 30th July and I had my RAI on 11th October. It may be worth following up with your consultants secretary to find out who your oncology referral is to. Then you can ask them about timings.
Usually Thyroid cancer cells are very slow growing so this isn't to invoke any worry, but I always felt less anxious when I knew when my next appointment was - less uncertainty and limbo.
They were able to plan my dates around a few holidays I had so that I wasn't on the LID while away and I wasn't isolating either.
Hope you hear back soon.
Hi Mrs VWOZ.
Congratulations on your scan results, what a relief that must have been for you. Well done on the walk as well, I found I really had to force myself to build stamina back up again - it's a work in progress.
Hope you can go and enjoy your freedom again, what do you have planned? I'm super excited for a facial haha!
Hello EmmG . Thanks , definitely I agree with you because sometimes we have to force ourselves little bit , and feel proud after, nothing planned but definitely facial would be nice , and hair cut , I am still with low blood pressure , I visit the GP , and have to drink plenty water as I don’t. Xx
Hi Keith
First ultra sound scan oct 2020 I had ops March and then May ( delayed because of pandemic) first op should have been Jan! RAI tomorrow 2nd Nov so I've had lots of delay to my treatment journey.
I chased and chased up what was going on, lots of delays and changes. Best to know what the plan is and push when needed.
