Hi all

Had my “hemi” this afternoon and only just beginning to feel properly awake. Bigger wound than I was expecting and it hurts so much. I keep wanting to cough which is annoying.

Now the worst bit - waiting for the histology report to come back

  • Hi

I'm hoping that now that it's been a few days after your operation you're feeling a lot more comfortable. Waiting for results is definitely a horrible time but I'm hoping that you're managing to find nice ways to distract yourself.

    Wishing you all the best

    Hi Latchbrook

thank you for taking the time to reply. It’s been 5 days now and it’s still painful. I have surface stitches which I didn’t expect (I can count 17) and I’ma bit nervous as I’m scheduled to have the stitches out at 7pm Christmas Eve which is not the best time for this sort of thing.

Fingers crossed once I’ve gritted my teeth and had the stitches removed, I’ll feel better.

Have a nice Christmas and stay safe x

  • Are you taking any pain medication that you were told to take ?

I was told to take what was recommended whether I thought I needed it or not. The idea is that you don't wait to feel pain before taking the pain killers but rather keep on top of the pain by taking them in advance, if that makes sense. I found that after I'd taken them for the recommended time I felt slight discomfort rather than pain.

I too was really nervous when I had my stitches removed but I literally didn't feel a thing. Maybe I was just lucky but hopefully it'll be the same for you.

They gave me Codeine and Oromorph. I’ve tried to stick with paracetamol but have started using the codeine. Roll on Thursday x

  • Hopefully the drugs they prescribed will do the trick. Remember, there are no prizes for not taking medication!

I hope everything goes well on Thursday and that you have an enjoyable Christmas.
