Hello there
I just had a call from the doctor that my undetermined thy3a has been identified as papillary cancer, after the group of oncologists had a look at it. It was suspected as follicular first, referred for more tests etc, but at least I do not have to wait longer, now it's all clear.
There is no signs of invasion but they found capsule disruption and recommend total thyroidectomy and RAI.
Now the question which probably asked a lot... How long before I am up and running again? Considering the hormone replacement and so on...
This year is just getting better nd better
Thank you
My own personal experience I was back at work after 4 weeks, I would have gone back after two but was told I had to self isolate for four post op. I am still in the process of getting my thyroxine levels correct and I am having RAI in two weeks.
Getting the levels right has been the hardest part for me I’m currently on 175mg and my TSH was still 24 at my last bloods (it’s supposed to be less than 0.5) so still a long way to go.
I hope your journey goes well and I wish you a speedy recovery post op
