Greetings

Calling all chaps who are undergoing testosterone replacement therapy...

I have just made the switch from Testogel to Nebido... I wonder if anybody finds the following experience familiar...
I started on the gels in June after my TC diagnosis and have just spent almost five months on Testogel. I got to a level (on 1.5 sachets a day) where I felt good and healthy and my T level was around 18. After chatting with my endocrinologist, I decided to switch to Nebido injections, mainly because I thought it would be easier having a jab every 10-12 weeks.

So I took my last dose of gel on Thursday morning and I had my first injection yesterday morning (Friday). My T level was fine (about 18 in the 10 to 30 range) before the jab. I felt ok for about 8 hours after the injection but I began to feel a bit rough last night and still feel a bit grim today. It  feels like the start of low T symptoms (I suffered with this around the time of my TC diagnosis so recognise the symptoms).

I was already on a good level of T so my questions are:

Could my T level have dropped so quickly (in less than 24 hours)?
Could it be that the level is now too high?
Is not feeling great a common reaction to switching from gel to Nebido?
Does it take a few days to kick in?

Greg: I know you are on Nebido and have given me some sound advice. But does any of this ring true?

I appreciate what works for one guy may not work for another and we are all different but any advice would be most appreciated.

Kind regards
Jason

    `just like to say,

I have just come off Nebido, after being on this trt treatment for over a year @ 10 week intervals.

After I started being injected with Nebido injections, I started to get the checking symptom normally associated with OCD.

I thought I was going nuts.

I spoke to the Endocrinologist, who put me back on the pellet form of trt (pure testosterone).

About 8 days after changing, the OCD, which I suffered from badly for the last years simply disappeared.

I personally prefer the pellets. Although they are a little more inconviant than the nebido injections in that every 3 or 4 months, the patient has to have the pellets surgically implanted under their skin.

And then wait a week or so for the wound to heal,

Still, better than going completely OCD nuts.

My experiences with Nebido are bad.

I dont think the purer form of testosterone is toxic to the liver.

I believe the pellet implants for example are pure testosterone that is bio-identical to that of body made testosterone.

As the pellets are implanted, the testosterone will not directly go to the liver and only end up their in the blood stream.

so, i would say, the pure preps of testosterone are not toxic.

one other bit of info. for alley.

Having your nuts removed doesn't mean the end.

With Trt, your testosterone levels should be normal as well as your libedo etc (sometimes, better, as with the treatment, you testosterone treatment will allow your testosterone level not to drop naturally as with normal men, and stay at peak levels).

As for having your nuts removed, if this makes you feel od, you can always get prosphetic nuts inserted. which apparently look and feel the same.

The only downfall, is that having no real nuts, means that you will no longer be able to have children.

I think that prolonged treatment of testosterone makes most men sterile anyway.

still, on the good side, you can have unprotected sex without worrying about getting your partner preggers.

    Okay this is my 2nd month on Testo Gel; fairly simple question here but need to ask;

The leaflet says it is best to apply on shoulders or stomach, but not chest? is there any reason for this and does anyone find a preferred body location that absorbs better or are all body parts much about the same for absorbing?

Was out in the sun yesterday and a bit too much sun on shoulders so applying around stomach today

  • Hi,

I've used T-gel for almost 4 years now, and also wondered about why its not put on the chest. I've never found an asnwer.

Androgel, an alternative to testogel, also says not to apply to the stomach, armpits, chest or knees. It recommends shoulders and upper arms.

In practice I apply it to my shoulders and wipe my fingers on my stomach.

    hey,

I have been told from the GP it is a steroid and any steroids near the heart can be dangerous, how much of this is true, he also advised that the best to rub it into the hips both sides and then once dry wash your hands thoroughly as the reason why if you come into contact with females, as it is testosterone that can have any affect with hair growing on females where they don't want or need hair.

hope this helps, am on the injections now every 18 weeks testosterone Nebedo

    Regards

    Hi All,

Reading this thread with interest. I'm currently on the Nebido, third jab - week 1, 6 then my Endo recommended half the 1000mg dose at half the interval, every six weeks.

Testogel was working fine, until a reoccurrence of my seminoma.

The first two jabs were bloody awful. The second was worse than the shot of chemo I had. I've had my half dose jab this morning so the clock has reset to week 1 of 6. My testo at second jab plus one week was 35! at second jab plus four weeks was 12. It's felt low for the last three weeks whilst my Endo and the GP sorted out their end.

I've reordered my Testogel and have a stash at home. I've had my bloods done this morning before my jab and they'll be done again in a week.

I can feel the effect of the jab already, I feel like I've drunk a lot of strong coffee (that's not a good feeling TBH).

Hopefully the half dose will be better. I'm going to give the nebido six months, if I'm still not right I'll try the Testogel again - it just wasn't cutting the mustard after my op last summer.

After reading this thread in full, I would advise all you check out a forum titled https://www.excelmale.com, this forum is for Men on TRT whether injecting or gels, it gives full information on needle size, best injection sites, Gel applications and full reports from men who have been on TRT for years

The more information everyone has, and the willingness to share this information is better for all involved.

Two years I had bilateral orchidectomy. I went onto testogel but, as some of you may have discovered, supply problems meant a switch to Tostran. I found both testogel and tostran made me have an amazing libido. Even on standard dose it was like being 18 again - erections through the nights and wet dreams. This was very unexpected.

Anyway, despite the enjoyable feeling of masculinity, I asked my endocrinologist about switching to injections. We chatted and he recommended Nebido. I'm about to start on it.

I did this because I can't see applying gel for the rest of my life as a healthy viable method. Tostran really dries out my skin and I do wonder about the long-term effects of the alcohol on the skin.

By the way, based on some forum research, I ignored the patient leaflet for Tostran and applied it to my upper left arm. I reckon the reason they don't suggest that is because of the dangers of third party transfer but I am not recommending anyone follows my lead as I'm not a qualified healthcare professional.
