I had my right testicle removed when I was 18months old because it was undescended. So I only ever had one testicle, and it worked fine, the testosterone tests I had in my 20's showed I was at the top end of the testosterone scale.
A day before my 30th birthday I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in the remaining testicle, and I underwent an orchidectomy on 07 March. The tumour was pure seminoma, 6/7cm. I'm not sure what stage i'm at yet, and still waiting for my CT scan/ appt with the oncologist which will be next week. I did have a CT scan in early feb which was clear.
Having the remaining testicle removed means I have to go on TRT as my body isn't producing any testosterone itself (other than the adrenal glands which only produces 10%).
I wondered if anyone else has had to have both testicles removed? and what their experience has been with TRT? I'm currently using Testogel (16.2 x 2 pumps) and considering the injections because they seem easier.
I'm concerned my testosterone levels won't return to the level they were before the orchidectomy, there's stories of people gaining weight, low mood, no energy etc. I'm hoping because i've started on the TRT immediately after the op I can return to my normal level in a few months.
Any experience/ input from someone who has ended up with both testicles being removed would be gratefully appreciated!
Thanks
