Hi guys,

I am currently 9 days post surgery, and the recovery seems to be going ok so far. My biggest issues are nausea and stomach pains/cramps, especially after a meal.I am not eating large amounts and the time I wake up I'm feeling nauseaus, which actually kept me up a few hours tonight.

I understand that this is major surgery and the stomach does get moved around quite a bit. For those who experienced anything similar, how long did this last for you, and any thing that helped combat it.

Any other recovery tips would be great aswell.

Thanks,

Tal

  • Hi

I'm sorry to hear how you're feeling after having had recent surgery. I can't help with your questions but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered. By replying to you it will bump it back to the top of the page where it may be seen by someone with the right experience.

If you don't get any replies you could post your questions in ask a nurse and one of the specialist nurses will respond within 2 working days.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Wishing you all the best with your recovery

Hi Tal, I had the RPLD surgery last November and like you I suffered from pains and stomach cramps for quite a while after surgery, like you said it’s quite a big op and it takes some time for everything to settle down. It was a good three months before I was completely back to normal, it just gets a little bit better each day. As far as recovery tips go, I would just take it easy and don’t lift anything! Walking was a great way to get back into shape and I started to do that after a couple of weeks, just going a bit further each day, although I did suffer from a painful back as I couldn’t straighten up properly at first, but that improves over time.

Good luck with your recovery, it sounds like you're doing really well Thumbsup

  • Hi darcy,

Yours is an experience behind my knowledge.  And a tougher route to being in the 95% than most, I hope the recovery progresses well, and you are soon back to full fitness.

    Best wishes

    Dan

    Hello there,

I hope this reply finds you well and totally recovered after your surgery.  My partner is having the same op in 4 weeks so hopefully it will go without any hiccups.

    Best wishes L and A
