Hi. Anyone else have a lung nodule detected while going through testicular cancer? I've got one that's monitored. Just thought I'd see if anyone else has this experience

  • Hi  . I'm not from this group but I was told I had a nodule on my lung when I had my first scan for my bladder cancer. I was told these things are quite common. I have regular scans just to monitor. Now on annual scans and the thing has not changed in 10 years. Hope the same for you. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Yes, my son has. A suspicious nodule was detected when he had his initial testicular cancer diagnosis. At the time it was ~ 17mm. Oncologist wanted to rush into surgery quickly after orchiectomy and chemotherapy and had even already liased with a larger hospital without discussing this with us first... we only heard about this when it was mentioned in correspondence between oncologist and GP. Since it had shrunk to 10mm (the usual threshold between consideration and recommendation for surgical removal) we gave no consent for surgery (particularly due to Covid infection risk and other risks of major thoracic surgery for an asthma sufferer).

It was upon our request that initially the nodule should be monitored only. This may have been the right approach... because now, after over 2 years of regular monitoring, oncologist as well as all the radiographers assume this could be just fibrotic tissue and not necessarily a malignant lesion. Therefore, currently there is a recommendation to just continue monitoring.

We can't be sure what it is, obviously, and we always keep our fingers crossed that - whatever this is - it remains "quiet".
