Hi all, new to this forum, past couple of weeks has been a bit of whirlwind so just looking to connect with others and see if you have any experiences too.
Currently 3 days post surgery after a radical orchidectomy of my right bollock. I was suprised to hear back from blood tests done the week before the op that my testosterone count was down to 8.1 (i'm 31), whereas back in late 2019 I had a T reading in the 20's. What could account for this loss? I also haven't had any decent erections in the past 3 days so I am a bit concerned that the remaining bollock is not waking up as it should. Has anyone had similar expereicese with T levels soon after an op?
Ideally I don't want TRT I want my natural testosterone to do it's job.
Best,
Tom
Hi T K! I see nobody replied to you. I am absolutely in nowhere as I am trying to battle with the GP’s, specialists, NHS in general, now 15 months. No help at all up to now. My T level is reading on the very low end, just the bare minimum. I have a bit high cholesterol, too. Dealing with ED with no hope from NHS, and it is seriously driving me absolutely crazy! And the top of everything was when last time I seen the urologist he told me they cannot find the reason, its common in people after their 40’s… what the heck are they talking about!!! I am 38 and I should be in my peak regarding sex life! Crazy!!! I am glad and thankful to God I am cancer free since April 2016. Initially diagnosed with TC january 2015, had orchidectomy end of January 2015, non semino germ cell tumour. Later enlarged lymph node, chemotherapy Septembe 2015- December 2015. RPLND surgery in April 2016. I was ok up to end of 2021 year. Occasionally I would have erection problems but that was a one time. End of 2021 something happened and continued like this… my T level was 13, dropped to 11, 10, 9… and no idea what is the T level now.
Hi. That is a low count by any measure. But it's very early days for you. I would give it a few more weeks and see if it starts improving. Lifting weights did quite quickly boost mine by around 17%, although mine hadn't really dropped significantly and I was just a bit paranoid. An increase of 20% from lifting weights and looking after your health won't be enough to get you into a decent range from a starting point of 8.1. Give it a bit longer but not too long. If you have to go for TRT to feel well then you might just have to do it.
Best wishes
G
The thing is my testosterone level is that low (on the lowest range) for at least 2 years. Recently past two weeks up to now when I go to gym I get tired quickly, I have no strength. Even I am doing a little bit exercises for every muscle group with quite light weights, I feel tired and no power to do a 45 mins to 1 hour session. I do about 20 mins, 30 mins max, but by then I am tired enough to do anything more. I was also thinking about the erectile dysfunction, whether my low testosterone is the reason for this along with the high cholesterol…? You know GPs and even urologist and endocrinologist did nothing, last time urologist told me we cannot find the reason, he was like it is normal to happen and like I have to live with it! What the heck!!! I am 38, not 78 for goodness sake! 1 year and 3 months dealing with this without solution. Is it normal to live on ed tablets like sildenafil and tadalafil… not for life for sure. And already been for so long on these tablets! It’s just terrifying me and doctors are not helpful at all! That’s why I ask here if anyone else experienced something similar, how are they dealing with it and is there a solution… hopefully there is as I don’t believe I should give up at my age! That’s ruining my life when I should be in my peak times!
Sorry for typing too much
You're right; I don't think you can or should accept that this is the new normal for you at your age. Long shot, but you're not on ace inhibitors for high blood pressure are you? I had months of suffering what I thought was low t despite my measured t levels being ok. Turned out it was a very rare side effects to the ramipril. Stopped it and felt fine again within weeks, but now have unchecked high BP.
Other than that it might be worth exploring private trt via a decent independent company.
I am not on any medication for high blood pressure. But I am taking atorvastatin for the high cholesterol, finally gp prescribed it. Been on atorvastatin for just under two weeks now. I am pushing for the T level check and see if they think I can get TRT. Well in their opinion they always say no. But for me finding and treating the reason for ed asap is more than necessary now. Enough is enough, been too long anyway. Like I said on previous post I forgot what it is like normal, how it happens… Anyway mostly thankful to God I am alive and cancer free for nearly 7 years now.
