Hi All ,
My name is Molly , i have recently been newly diagnosed with stage 1a carcinoma of the stomach. I have been told i have 1 cancerous tumour and 2 others that i have had biopsies on yesterday after waiting a very long time to have this appointment made, my feelings are all over the place one day i think im ok and the next my emotions are the complete opposite and i shut down and dont know what to do. I have a partner who is very supportive and helping me through this every day , it is a very upsetting and stressful diagnoses to be given and not knowing what the other 2 tumours results are is going around my head. I have also had some issues with the hospital, especially with the consultants who have cancelled some appointments and not being able to speak to the same consultant as they are not in or you are not happy with them so you have to see if someone else will give you some answers....
Today i have had a productive day keeping myself busy, i have been signed off work sick until i know what my treatment plan will be i get some more answers from the hospital.
Thanks
Molly

Welcome to our group, you will get lots of support here. Your diagnosis will be hard to come to terms with but it’s good that the cancer has been found early. Are the other biopsies from your stomach?
The main thing is that there is no spread outside the stomach. The usual treatment is Chemo then surgery then more chemo.
I had chemo and a partial gastrectomy five years ago and I am currently in Spain enjoying eating and drinking as before. The treatment isn’t easy but you’re right that once you know your treatment plan it gets easier.
Stay off Google! Lots of the information is out of date. I found the Oesophageal Patient Association very useful and I focused on things that I could control! I got as fit physically and mentally as possible. Eating high protein and high calorie foods, walking a lot really helped me.
Do use this group for support!

Hi Molly, so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and your experiences with the consultants so far. I really do hope that you get some results back as soon as possible with no more cancellations… It isn’t a pleasant experience to be told you’ve got cancer and your mind will be working overtime of all the different thoughts going on… as Jacqui said don’t google as it scares you, and makes you worry more. You have definitely come to the right place to ask questions and get support.
Take care
Michele
Sorry you find your self here Molly, it’s a very scary time till you start treatment then things just seem to get a bit better., I’ve nothing to add to Jacs post, apart if you’ve had appointments cancelled for no reason I’d get in touch with PALS and ask them to find out what’s happening, they will help you find out what’s going on. Good luck xx
