Hi
Welcome to the group, although I am sure you would rather not find yourself here! I had stomach cancer four years ago and had chemo and a partial gastrectomy. I wrote a Blog which you might find helpful
I now lead a normal life, eating and drinking as before although smaller portions!
Once you get the treatment started, it’s easier and you just need to focus on getting through it.
Do post on this group as there’s a number of people who are going through the same experience and it’s really good to share experiences.
I will send a Friend request and if you want to message me, I would be happy to help if I can. Your diagnosis is very similar to mine!
Good luck!
Jac
Hi,So sorry to hear about your diagnosis, you’ve come to the right place to talk and ask questions… I was diagnosed November 21 with stage 4 signet ring. I’m now in remission having had 8 rounds of FLOT chemotherapy and my stomach removed in April 22. I’ve just recently started back to work as I had to have time off due to working with young children in a nursery. It’s been very hard since my diagnosis and all the treatments but I’m starting to get back to my new normal!! Please continue to talk to others as it helps with anxiety of what’s going to happen… STAY STRONG… you’ve got this and I hope all goes well with your first chemo… Take care!
Michele.
Thank you for your kind words and fr/req, I did join a FB stomach cancer group , then I found out about the Macmillan website with groups also, I do find it helps to talk, though it took me a few weeks to do so, I'm scared, nervous , it's the unknown, I will start my first chemo session on Thursday, overnight + all day Friday , home Friday evening., Wasn't expecting that, I though oh just a few hours .
It's awful at the time, so be prepared for all that can happen but set a goal to help you through, a treat, an activity a holiday to help you through and focus on the positive. It will be a roller coaster ride but there will be people to help. I joined a Facebook group which was a help too
I'm trying to be prepared but scared to be prepared if that makes sense? I'm as nervous as hell, my stomach churns thinking about what my journey is going to be like. Thanx
