Hello community, its me again.
I'm spiralling. My weight loss after the partial gastrectomy in November is still going and I'm now panicking about malabsorption and malnutrition. I've lost half a stone in a month and 1.5 stone in total since the op .
I've developed a lactose intolerance and still get nausea so whilst I'm doing little & often it's hard. Every morning I feel like it all just comes out again. I'm waiting to speak to the nurse & dietician to get tests done etc. I'm just so worried about it impacting recurrence.
How did others manage it, is this rate normal, what foods helped?
Sorry for the rant, just struggling.
You are having such a hard time! Hopefully the medical team will help..some people in this group have had trouble with malabsorption and have been given a supplement to slow things down!
It does take time for the new plumbing to work properly!
x

I’ve maintained a very strict diary for couple of months, until my husband’s weight stabilised. Literally weighing, calculating, and recording everything in a spreadsheet, to be sure he gets 1800 calories and 90-100 g of protein per day (YMMV). Threatening him with a protein powder drink before bed if the sums don’t add up. :)
We were following the dietician leaflets pretty closely, and some other resources:
