Can anyone advise if a stent is worth trying please? Anyone who has had experience. They have suggested this for my father-in-law but he's not in pain at the moment and I've heard that it can cause pain. Every decision is a difficult one. Thanks in advance for sharing any experiences you've had. x
Hi every person and case is different, the actual fitting of then stent can be uncomfortable but once in place it should not cause much discomfort . Mine has been in since last July, whilst i have had issues it is not down to the physical attributes of the stent but the way my cancer has progressed.
My son had stomach cancer. His stent gave him an extra 5 weeks of life. I don't think it gave him any pain. And it enabled him to eat more easily and without being sick. Immediately after it was fitted it was OK, then next day very bad, lots of vomiting, then the day after that it settled and he improved considerably and was able to leave hospital and come back home for his five remaining weeks. Obviously we are all different, I can only tell you his experience.
