Hello,

my mum has been informed they found a mass the size of a tomato in her fundus. We have been told they suspect cancer as it looks sinister.

She has traces of blood in her urine and stools, she is anemic (her count is 74 which is apparently very low) she is often sick while eating and has bowel issues too.

We are waiting on a call for her to go see the doctor so they can take a biopsy to conform cancer, how long are we expected to wait? Her ct scan was over weeks ago and had a call informing her of the mass 3 days ago by a specialist nurse. This was the first we heard anything. Covid is being blamed for lost communication and that they can not promise the 2 week window as they have too many people to see in similar situations. The specialist nurse has been given to is to support us as a family

She already had a camera up and down, they missed the mass due to its location.

Anyone been in a similar situation? What's going on, my mum is struggling and her mental health is spirling (history of mental health issues)

Any replies would be really appreciated

Thank you x

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I don't have the experience you're looking for, as I have a different type of cancer to your mum, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily seen.

The specialist nurse that has been assigned to your mum should be able to answer your question about how long the likely wait will be for your mum to see the doctor and for her then to receive her results. Hopefully she won't have too long.
