Hi,my husband had a total gastrectomy in December and has been suffering a lot of pain after eating and drinking and has lost 7 stones.he has been diagnosed with esophagitis and now has a small intestinal bowel bacterial overgrowth  known as sibbo. He has to go into hospital tomorrow to be fitted with a nasal feeding tube as is very worried about how long it is going to take to cure this as we have booked a 3 week family  holiday in Orlando end of august. He has been prescribed antibiotics but have not arrived yet after waiting for 4 days which isn't helping. Hospital said he can get them tomorrow.  Please can anyone let him know if they have had this diagnosis and how long it tool to recover? Thanks for any help

I hope the appointment to have a nasal feeding tube went well and the hospital team were able to answer your questions on how long your husband should take to recover from his treatment for esophagitis and the SIBO infection. Hopefully they also advised on whether your planned holiday will be able to go ahead.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'.
