So after quite a lengthy period of bowts of stomach pain and taking medication a different doctor at my surgery sugested i stop the medication in case it was masking something, and unfortunately the pain returned so i was sent for an endoscopy which was done by a surgeon who knew right away that i had stomach cancer, biopsies were taken and i was sent for a CT scan. An mdt meeting was held and i was informed of the outcome, I had Arenocarcinoma cancer (T3 N1 M x) The M could not be determined as there was an indeterminate left lower lobe pulminary micro nodule that was to be monitored
I now have a staging Laproscopy in two days time which will determine which route of treatment i go down. The hope is that the cancer has not spread into the fluids around my stomach which will mean i go on to a course of chemo 4 x 2 weekly followed by a Gastrectomy and then more chemotherapy with a view to a cure.
I have to say how impressed i am with the speed at which things have gone so far and i am also staying positive with the journey ahead. For information i am a 62 year old male normally fit and well with fantastic support from my wife and best friend Jo.
Thank you all so much for sharing all of your stories, reading this thread is helping me so so much. Dad starts his treatment FLOT number one on Wednesday so I’m praying it all goes smoothly. It’s bn a tough week. I had a gastroscopy today as I have been having symptoms which raised a concern but thankfully it’s a hernia
Mum has the ‘No Evidence of Disease’ in her three monthly small cell lung cancer scan yesterday so we are so so grateful. We can now all concentrate on getting dad better!
He is fitter than ever at the minute. I’m hoping the belching and difficulty swallowing at times he is having eases on his chemo, the oncologist said this could potentially get easier by round two.
love to you alL.
You are all incredible
Thanks Cestrian had to smile at the nail polish tip being a male i wonder what my wife would say..... I was having real issues with my mouth and found the prescribed mouth wash really helped.
Please do post early eating advice i'm sure this would be useful for a lot of people.
Have a wonderful holiday…eat lots and plenty of sunshine and rest! Ready for the next stage of your recovery!

Haha just tell her it’s what all the cool kids are doing now someone mentioned to me that nails can become hyper sensitive to light so maybe gloves would do the trick…you might even find a pair to match your swim shorts
have a great time, I hope it’s an all you can eat inclusive holiday!
So sorry for ``flagged to moderator``. I can`t turn it off. So so sorry I don`t know how to ``unflagg``, can`t even find which post it was...I just had surgery(double mastectomy) myself after chemo for TNBC and I am worried for my husband who had stomach problems for the last 20 years. It`s first time the treatment doesn`t work and his doctor is very concerned. We don`t have a diagnosis yet.
Hi, I’m sorry to hear of your diagnosis but happy that you have had a speedy journey so far… mine was was very fast too from the day I was diagnosed in November 2021. Mine was stage 4 signet ring, thankfully no spread else where. I had 4 rounds of FLOT chemo, total gastrectomy then 4 more rounds of chemo last year…
Take care
Michele
Hi Michelle
How are you now? My dad had cycle one of FLOT on Wednesday. Been great up until today then he’s had really bad tummy pain and is in bed. He’s usually super fit and even went the hospital gym on Friday! He needs to listen to us and take things easy though. We are thinking the FLOT has caused constipation and that’s what the pain was?
Yhe plan is for exactly what you’ve been through. Any advice? Xx
Hi, it can take a few days for side effects to kick in, usually the day after the last steroid taken. It is quite possibly constipation as I too had it for a few days after chemo, but then I had diarrhoea a day or two after the bunged up feeling, which then I also had nausea too. He may also get indigestion/reflux too, once he’s finished his course of omeprazole. Get some gaviscon and diarolyte in just in case to help. Tell him to listen to his body, if he needs to rest and sleep then do it, it needs to recover.
Take care
Michele
Last day of holiday today then a week to go before my operation, I have eaten and drank well as a farewell to my stomach. I am still suffering with neuropathy in my fingers and more so in my toes, does anyone have any tips on how to ease this very annoying side effect?
