Hi
I am T3. I will complete FLOT chemo - then operation to remove stomach.
Had my first round of chemotherapy 12 days ago, due next one in two days time.
What experience has anyone had during second round. Are side effects worse? Is this when I lose hair? Is there more nausea, or less?
Any contributions very welcome.
Thanks for your help and good luck

Hi Joe
I don't have any experience with chemotherapy but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where hopefully someone with the right experience will see it and respond.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

I have just read your post. I didn’t have chemo after surgery as I was very lucky and the cancer was found early. But many on this Forum have had chemo after surgery and coped ok. I think it can be harder as you have just had stomach surgery but you get a lot of support from the medical team, who help to manage the side effects.
I found it easier not to look too far ahead and to focus on the next stage. I prepared as well as I could for the surgery; I walked a lot and ate really well trying to put on weight was important for me as I lost a lot before I was diagnosed and during chemo. I also researched how to cope with eating after surgery. I wrote a Blog and information from the Oespheagal Patients Association was really helpful
I remember reading on the Forum from Thehighlander that treatment was like climbing a mountain with stops on the way. I liked that as it helped me see how far I had come!
Good luck!

Hi Joe,
My husband found the second course of chemotherapy post gastrectomy very tough. He was told it would be more difficult and many have to discontinue before completing the 4 treatments. He managed to have all of them but lost significant weight as he found eating very difficult. He lost his hair towards the end of the first course and it started to grow back, but he lost it all again during the second course. He is now 6 weeks post chemotherapy and trying to adjust to a new way of living.. There will be ups and downs and you need to remain positive. He is feeling better, COVID is less of an issue now and trying to do more things again, definitely in a better place than before.
All the best
Y

Had second course of FLOT 2 days ago. Feeling sluggish but the big thing now is the peripheral neuropathy, tingling in hands and to a much lesser extent, in the feet.
Hair now falling out a bit!
