My son has been diagnosed with synovial sarcoma in his voice box, unfortunately we found out today it has spread to his lungs, he is 28. I feel heartbroken, even more so because the way the oncologist delivers the news is dreadful.
They encourage you to stay positive, but his oncologist manages to drain any inch of positivity we may have.
Does anyone have experience of the Royal Marsden? I looking at setting a private consultation there. Thanks xx

I am Steve, one of the community champions and my expereince of cancer is via my wife who has Leiomyosarcoma.
We have no experience of the Royal Marsden ourselves but there have been a number of here who came under their care. Sarcoma being something of a rare cancer is usually handled in a few specialist centres and they are part of the London and South East Sarcoma network.
I certainly get your point about how the oncologist can deal with the issue. Sometimes I think because they deal with cancer every day they become desensitised to the impact it can have.
The only treatment they could offer my wife was chemotherapy and fortunatly the second type of that managed to make her cancer stable and it has been that way for over 10 years now. As my wife says living with cancer rather than anyhting else and she seems really well.
