I was wondering what treatments people have used(chemo),how they feeling during and after treatments, expense, and if they can do what they normally do every day. Trying to decide on my new path. Have survived kidney cancer. Now have this new but rare one. I'm 66 years old. Looking for all options. Thank you

  • Hi

My wife has Leiomyosarcoma, secondaries in her lungs, likely the primary was in her womb but the cancer was not found until after she had a hysterectomy.

Her first chemo was with Doxyrubicin, it was effective but unfortunatly as some of the cancer was forming the wall of her lung she ended up with a collapsed lung. Still the doctors managed to fix that up and so later they tried using gemcatabine as a single agent and it managed to make the cancer stable and has been that way for over 10 years now.

The doxyrubicin led to her losing her hair and was a little bit nauseous but otherwise did not seem too bad. It did cause her to have a couple of temperature spikes with ending up in hospital for IV antibiotics.

The gemcatabine did not really seem to give any significant problems.

    <<hugs>>
