LMS waiting in limbo

Hi, I was diagnosed last yr, June 22, LMS-tumor in thigh 3mm with Metastatis in pelvis. I had R'therapy & surgery on both sites in Nov; followed by clear PET scan Jan 2023 I was elated to say least. However June 23 PET showed nodule in lung, which has been removed but now in limbo for next scan? So really hoping for clear result & prayers are a big part of my living for the future as I have no idea what to expect & what is the best I can hope for.

  • Hi

My wife has LMS, in her case of gynae origin but now multiple secondaires in her lings. She has had two loads of chemo therapy since for her surgery was not an option and the second load seems to have sent her cancer to sleep - been like that for 10 years now and her oncologist is so pleased with her progress he is now saying if no signs of progression next year he will discharge her to our GP.

Waiting for the next scan is something we are recognize as an issue, we have a special name - scanxiety - but if we recognize it for what it is we can help to put that in the "that is a issue" but not something we can easily fix and remember to get on with the rest of our life.

    <<hugs>>

  • Hi Steve thank you for replying to me;  it is good to hear such positive stories; which to start with seem so bleak.  Compared to your wife, I am still at the beginning of my journey and sometimes my positive thoughts get overtaken by the negative ones - although I really try and keep positive, so thank you for lifting me with your wife's story - 10 years is good, as I have been thinking much less than that! I have 3 children, all adults, my son lives in South Africa and is coming for Xmas with his family, including my granddaughter who will be 15 months;  my youngest daughter who lives nearby is pregnant, due in April, so I am just determined to live a longer life to enjoy my family.  Good luck to you & your wife and I hope your son is doing well too!
