hello all new here
was diagnosed in august 2023 with spindle cell sarcoma (high grade)- I have had surgery and they have removed the left jaw, currently waiting pathology results then plan is to have chemo- has anyone got experience with this type and how chemo will go.
I also have sickle cell trait so didn't get bone replacement- currently only have metal plates- wonder how they will reconstruct my jaw and teeth
Anyone here have the same diagnosis?
thank you
Hello Jamz
I hope you do not mind me replying as I had a different type of cancer to you, but by doing so it will bump your post back to the top.
I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of high grade spindle cell sarcoma in August. I hope that your recovery from the surgery is going as planned. I remember my wait for post op pathology to come back and it is a worrying time. Hopefully you will not have to wait too much longer.
I did have chemo myself and what I learnt was that there were many different types and treatment plans. Hopefully once your pathology comes back they will be able to let you know the chemo drug you will be on and how this will be given. They will have a consents appointment nearer the time and they will go through all the details with you.
I do not have any experience of sickle cell trait so am not sure about the bone replacement, but once your results come back and you have your appointment to discuss the results/plan the chemo- I am sure you will have the chance to ask about it.
I hope this helps a bit and hopefully someone will now see your post and offer more support. In the meantime if you feel it would help, please do give the Support Line a call and talk things through.
I wish you well with your treatment.

Hi Jamz
I'm sorry to read of your diagnosis and recent surgery. I hope you are recovering well. Welcome to the online community. I have a different type of cancer so I hope you don't mind me replying. By responding to your post it will place it back at the top so that it may be seen by more members of your group.
I had chemotherapy last year and I won't pretend that it was all fine. It was tough, I had 6 cycles of Carboplatin and Paclitaxel. However, if and when I need to have it again, I wouldn't hesitate. It's hard but it's do-able. If you'd like to read my profile just click on my username. It's a good idea to write a profile yourself as it helps members in their replies to you and saves you repeating yourself.
