Hi, I’m new to online groups and posted this in the ‘new’ group but was advised this might be a better place.
I’ve been under investigation for the past few weeks for suspected sarcoma. The NHS has been amazing so far but I went to get my biopsy results last week and they’re not back yet.
I’ve been rebooked for another 2 weeks and the wait is so distracting. I can’t concentrate at work (my boss knows and has been great) but I’ve lost my want to do anything at home and I’m eating so much sugar it’s unbelievable.
I speak to my husband about how I’m feeling and he’s so supportive, telling me it’ll be fine either way, but I just can’t stop worrying. I don’t want to burden him too much as his mum passed away from cancer so I’m worried about brining up old worries for him. I haven’t told any friends or family or my teenagers because I don’t want them to worry, especially if it turns out to be nothing.
I don’t really know what I’m looking for by joining this group and posting. Maybe to not feel alone!?!
Hi. I'm fairly new here myself but wanted to reply as I know excatly how you are feeling. The wait for the results is just awful, makes you feel sick & you don't know if you coming or going. I had wait ages for my results & only got them because I chased & chased. The whole process was disgusting.
The NHS have timeframes for all this so might be good idea to call the PALS (Patient Liaison) & ask them to chase the results for you. They normally are good. Call the hospital main number for them to give you PALS contact details.
I know easier said than done but keep busy if you can. I did loads of housework.
Hope you get your results quickly & you get positive news.
Remember you are not alone at all. Xx
Hi and thanks for the reply,
I’ve called my consultants secretary and they haven’t had anything back yet, so she’ll chase, but she explained it could be 5-6 weeks (5 is next week, when I have my next appointment. I’m just hoping it won’t be delayed again!).
I’m sorry to hear you had to chase your results. it seems very mixed as to what care you get, maybe based on NHS location? Consultant? Which doesn’t seem right!
Good luck with everything.
x
