  • Hello Crissy

I hope you do not mind me replying as I had a different type of cancer to your husband but thought by responding it might bump your post back to the top. Hopefully someone who has experienced similar will see it and offer support.

I am sorry to hear that your husband has been diagnosed with a leiomyosarcoma. It must be a very worrying time for you both. I understand your concerns about how it is growing and that you want surgery done as soon as it can be done. I hope that he does not have to wait too long.

I have found a bit of information on here that may help so I will pop a link below in case you want to have a look. Am thinking that it may help to prepare you both for discussions regarding treatment etc when you next seen the oncologist.

  • Thankyou for your support

we are back at the hospital for fitness tests & anaesthetic consultation next week so at least we have something to focus on

although this will be a big operation for my husband to go through he just wants to get this done asap before his health deteriorates too much

in just 5 weeks since diagnosis we can see the drastic effect this tumour is having on his body

  • It is good that the appointment is next week and I can understand that although it is a big operation that you both want to just get it done now. I am sorry that it is having such a drastic effect on his body and thank goodness he has had it diagnosed and will have it treated quickly. I hope his consultation goes well and wish him (and you) best for his surgery and recovery. One tip that helped me is to write down any questions you have and take them with you- to make sure you get the answers you need. Otherwise I would come out and then straight away realise there were things I had forgotten to ask.

if there is anything you or your husband need, please just ask

  • Hi Crissy

I was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma back in 2021 (though I am female). I had 2 vulval surgeries before mine was eradicated. Details in my profile if your interested.

I hope they manage to do the same for your husband and his recovery goes well. Please keep us informed

    Best wishes
