I had a large tuomor removed from my right thigh in Feb two months after a course of radiotherapy. Just found out I have a small secondary tumour in my lung. So due to have an op to remove shortly. Feeling very frightened and down.....I need to tell my family but scared for their reaction.
Hi and welcome to the community,though sorry to hear about your issues. As you are probably aware sarcoma is fairly rare so it can be difficult to find people who understand and this is where the community can be really helpful. Can I ask where are you being treated? My wife has Leiomyosarcoma but we are really lucky to live quite close to Oxford and so come under the excellent care at the Churchill hospital.
Your emotions are really very normal and many people worry about talking about their cancer, we do have tips that can help you can read here but for many of them the first reaction is likely to be shock. Having friends around you is often a real help and do not forget you can always talk on here or for a quicker fix ring the helpline.
We are lucky in that my wife's cancer is stable and has been now for some time, have a bit of a drag getting monitored ever 6 months but with lots of work and the right support we have managed to find the world of living-with-cancer - and life is good. We will be off on holiday in a couple of weeks.
One of the things that can help friends deal with you (and you are still you) rather than the cancer is to point them at our "tips" page
