Hi just wondering about other's experiences at first appointments.
Is it possible that they will do a biopsy same day or is it always done on a return visit ?
Hi
Mine have always been done on a return visit. This can be because the dermatologist you see doesn't do operations but mainly because there wouldn't be time within your appointment for the procedure to be carried out.
Anne
They did a scrape biopsy today. Good to get it out the way. Maybe because it was a private appointment
Yes, I'd forgotten about scape or shave biopsies. I've never had one but I know they're less invasive than an excisional biopsy. The advantage of them is that if it isn't a skin cancer then you've not had a minor procedure for no reason.
Let's keep everything crossed for a benign result. How long were you told the results will be?
Thanks. Two weeks but not expecting benign. It is likely nodular or infiltrative. She said excisional surgery if nodular or mohs referral if infiltrative. It looks nodular but also with uneven edges typical of infiltrative.
