I’ve just been offered the possibility (after just about having every treatment available for skin cancer) of Nivolumab and I know everyone is different but I just wondered if anyone has had this treatment and your thoughts please?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I haven't has nivolumab I have had skin cancer.

I hope you don't mind me asking but is your skin cancer melanoma? If it is, can I recommend that you also join and post in the melanoma group, as you'll find lots of people who are on nivolumab there.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi, I’ve been on Nivolumab for 18 months only side effect I’ve noticed is fatigue . I’m stage 4 and 3 monthly scans show Nivolumab is working Pray

  • Thank you for your reply

  • Hello Anne and thank you for your message.  No not Melanoma but multiple BCC’s for a long time.  I’ve updated my profile as you requested.

  • Hi

Thanks for completing your profile and I'm sorry to read about the multiple BCCs you've had.

I've had a look in this group to see if anyone else has mentioned having Nivolumab but drew a blank I'm afraid.

  • Nivolumab has been a key part of my treatment since a metastatic melanoma diagnosis last November and it has worked wonders. I have gone from a point of having months to live to being able to manage the disease long term Blush
