Hello

I've just had a biopsy a week ago with suspected skin cancer I'm absolutely paranoid I'm going to die as I  lost my mum to skin cancer at 65 the wait for the biopsy results seem so long 3 to 12 weeks is anyone else having this agonising wait? Losing both my parents at a young age has left me with an unhealthy worrying about life in general

  • Hi fran65

So sorry to hear that your mum died of skin cancer and it's understandable that you're very anxious.

    The waiting is awful isn't?

I think it's something we all find extremely difficult.

You'll find a lot of support on this group as we understand what each of us are going through so please keep in contact.

Do you have any idea on the type of skin cancer they think it may be?

  • Hi Fran65  I had a biopsy done on a skin cancer and had to wait 5 weeks for results. It came back as a basal cell cancer but quite large and in an awkward place right near my eye  I had it operated on with skin graft and 12 months later it is fine.  Have you been given any idea what type it is.  I can understsnd your anxiety with losing your Mum to skin cancer.  You will find so much support from this group x

  • Hi Puckitty

They said it could either be Bowens or pre melonoma which is what my mum had..its difficult not to worry..thankyou for replying

  • Hi Harlyn

I'm so glad your op went to plan..I guess I'm lucky it's on my lower leg and easy.to spot

My mums was on top of her head to start so it wasn't actually noticed until her hairdresser spotted it...My mum was so brave going through what she went through I wish I was as strong as she was..

I've been told it's either Bowens or pre melonoma thankyou for your reply
