Due to have a BCC on my upper nose removed next week (was supposed to happen last Easter but ......) I think it’s grown a bit and feel worried about how the plan to graft a flap from the top of my nose over the place where the bcc is. Also not clear about what actually happens. I know it’s a local but will I be sitting up or lying down and how long might it take. should I buy some strong pain killers. Lots of questions, sorry.
Hi - sorry that you had to wait so long for your treatment, but good to hear your operation is next week. I haven't had surgery on my nose myself, my BCC is on my cheek, but if you look at some previous posts several people have had operations on their noses and were happy with the results. Hopefully you will have a chance to talk to the surgeon before the procedure to ask any questions, but I found the nurses very helpful when asking about pain relief etc. Good luck for next week, let us know how you get on x
I had a bcc removed from my neck.
I was lying on a bed in my GP surgery well more sitting up reclining much like at the dentists.
the local anaesthetic reminded me too of being at the dentists. Although it stung the pain was brief.
the doctor asked if I could feel anything before he put on the sterile sheet. Although it was close to my face I did not look. All I felt was like a bit of tugging but no pain just a sensation. The removal was smooth. I never saw anything.
the procedure took about 20 minutes.
I only took paracetamol pain relief tablets.
the dressing was on for about 2 days. Then I changed it I think on a 2 day basis. I put Vaseline over the wound before putting on the dressing.
I actually had a reaction to the dressing not the wound.
the stitches were removed after 10 days by the GP nurse. I had the procedure on 8/12/2020 and still put Vaseline on the wound several times a day.
Thank you, feel more prepared now. Keep well and safe
kind regards
