Hello,
my husband had a BCC removed from his forehead today. He was scheduled to have a skin graft but they changed their minds and decided to stitch it up, but he thinks they had some trouble closing the wound. He’s in a lot more pain than he was expecting and is finding it difficult. If he’s not better tomorrow I’m going to try and persuade him to go to the local walk in clinic. He’s taken paracetamol and ibuprofen but it’s not made any difference and he’s been almost in tears at times. I’m concerned because the top of his scalp feels numb.
I know medical advice can’t be given for individuals without being able to see them but I just wondered if this is usual to be in this much pain? I feel very worried about him.
Thanks
HI and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear that your husband is in a lot of pain after having a BCC removed. My dad had one removed from his forehead 18 months ago and experienced a lot of pain as, like your husband, he was originally going to have a skin graft and then the surgeon decided to close it without.
He was given instructions to take painkillers for so many days afterwards, which he did, and the pain did subside after a few days. I hope your husband's pain is easing but make sure that he follows the instructions on how often and when he should take the painkillers.

Hi
I wondered how your husband was doing as you'd posted 3 weeks ago that he was in a lot of pain after having a BCC removed from his forehead. Hopefully, everything's settled down now and he's no longer in pain.

I had 2 BCC removed from my scalp and experienced quite a lot of pain from it. I used Ibuprofen for the pain and I found that it worked for me. I was a little worried at first about the amount of pain, I was in. I think pain side of it was maybe played down a little. Having said that, the nurses did offer me Paracetamol after the operation(I didn't need any at that point) and did say to get on the pain medication when I got home. It took about 7 days before the pain settled down.
Oh goodness, I’ve only just found this, I’m so sorry but thank you for your concern. Husband really did go through the mill, he had to go back to the clinic early to get it checked on, and now has a rather long scar and a dent in his head, (and a stray stubborn stitch), but the pain did subside and he seems all safe now, fingers crossed. Thank you for your response.
Thank you John, I’m so sorry I’ve onky just seen this but I appreciate your response. You’re right I think they played down the pain! Husband is ok now apart from a scar and a dent. I hope you are ok and over it all too.
