Has anyone used imiquimod cream? If so did you have any side effects? How did you find it?
i had a bcc removed early October, and am having another removed December! But also, given this cream for 2 superficial bcc’s on my face.
as much as I don’t want anymore facial surgery done ( my last one was on my eyebrow area) I am concerned about this cream, in the short term at least.
I am in my 30s and am also frightened by how many skin cancers I’m getting at a young age. I understand that bcc’s are not aggressive but I can’t help worrying about what lies ahead!
anyway any advice would be appreciated
Hello Makkapakka
Yes, I’ve used Aldara. I had a mole/lentigo maligna removed from my cheek back in January. There were pre cancerous cells in the margin and because of my age (53) my consultant recommended a 60 day course of treatment.
I had a severe reaction to the cream (which is quite rare) and needed several 2-3 week breaks from the cream. I’m not going to lie to you, a very large part of my cheek was red, weeping and scabby and I didn’t feel overly attractive. BUT, just a few weeks of stopping the cream, my skin had completely healed and now you can’t really see a thing. The difference is amazing. My message to you here is try to focus on the end result (that your skin will heal) and it’s just something you have to go through to get from A to B and to kill those nasty cells
The cream is is supposed to be a smart cream and I know someone who has skin cancer who has used it with successful results. But I’m no medical expert and everyone is different. But if your specialist recommends it, I personally would prefer to go through what I went through rather than more surgery but of course it’s tour decision
please do ask away if you have any questions or queries, I’m here to give you any moral support

Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that you've had several BCCs appear recently. I haven't used this cream but I'm going to tag as she has and will hopefully be able to tell you of her experiences with it.
As you have quite rightly said BCCs are not aggressive and the best thing to do to try and avoid any more in future is to be safe in the sun. Although this information is written for people who have had melanoma it is also very useful advice to anyone who has had any form of skin cancer.
Take care

Hi makkapakka, I am currently using Aldara cream after being diagnosed with EMPD, I will b honest with you it's no walk in the park, my side effects include inflammation, burning and itching, I also have flu like symptoms, headache and the runs but I am trying to stay positive and focus on the end result of being cancer free, hope this helps you, you may b fine with the cream as not everyone gets side effects, take care and I hope it works for u x

I was extremely hesitant to use this medicine because of the price and because I had read horror stories about it online. But I was desperate because of unsightly warts, so I took the plunge. I made sure to apply with a magnification mirror and a q-tip. I can't stress enough how important it was to ONLY apply it exactly where the warts were. My side effects included swelling and itching around the affected area and some fatigue/aches. After using it 4 times, my warts were gone. Worth it worth it worth it. Just be careful not to put it on any healthy skin. Aldara without a prescription - https://onlinecheappills.com
