So had the diagnosis of Nasal BCC. Agree to the op and sign the normal waiver of all things that might go wrong. Stitches out a couple of days ago.

For some 45 years have had the virus, and it decides to let me know all about it when the body is run down eg post marathon, or skiing especially in sunshine. Mainly on the lips, but cheeks, forehead and neck, as well as in the eye some 35 years ago. It can lead to blindness so I was lucky!

So post graft op, nurse said I would need some pain killers which hadn’t been necessary after the mohs. She was right, and the head pain seemed to last a long time, and on the 5th day after I realised why. Serious headaches always precede the skin blistering by about 48 hours. The blistering was right in the corner of my eye and the upper eyelid. Not able to use the Zovirax cream - always to hand - so phoned the GP and got a virtually immediate appointment. I knew I needed the appropriate pills urgently, but she sent me to the local Eye A & E hospital to make sure it was not in the eye. So 4 hours later all ok, but with the pills the blisters cleared very quickly

So a compromised immune system and the messing about at the top of the nose twice in three days got the virus all riled up!

The point of this story is that if anyone else is susceptible to the virus to make sure they don’t get blind (pun - ouch) sided and recognise the viral attack quicker than I did?
