Hello everyone, I am a new member. I have recently developed a small lump on my lower eyelid and I've been seen by several specialists, they all have different opinion. I've been advised to have a biopsy to exclude basal cell carcinoma (BCC). In case it's cancer, I will need to have Mohs surgery followed by reconstruction.
Apart from worrying about cancer, I am also worried about my appearance as the eyelids are a sensitive area. I am also not sure whether to do this via NHS or to go privately. Does anyone have experience with this or any recommendation for a hospital/oculoplastic surgeon in London? I am not from the UK nor a native speaker so any information is more than welcome as I am not much familiar with the health system here. Thanks!
Hi and a very warm welcome to the skin cancer group
I'm sorry to read that you've recently developed a lump on your lower eyelid and it's natural to worry about the cosmetic side of things as well.
I had a BCC removed from my chest earlier this year but don't have any personal experience of having one removed from my eyelid. I've had a look for previous posts which mention the lower eyelid and found these. You could have a read through them and reply to any of the more recent posters if you think they might be able to help you further.
